Dehradun, October 7 (Udaipur Kiran): Rain continues across Uttarakhand, while snowfall in high-altitude regions such as Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Hemkund Sahib has brought a noticeable drop in temperature. The cold wave has now extended to the plains as well, with showers marking the onset of winter-like conditions. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for most districts of the state today.

Since Monday morning, intermittent rainfall has been reported across various parts of Uttarakhand. Heavy snowfall in areas like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Hemkund Sahib has intensified the cold. Peaks surrounding the Gangotri-Yamunotri shrines are now covered in snow.
Following the snowfall, temperatures in these pilgrimage sites have dropped significantly. Pilgrims from India and abroad are enjoying the scenic snowfall. However, helicopter services have been suspended due to poor weather conditions. To help visitors cope with the cold, bonfire arrangements have been made, and adequate medical facilities are available along the yatra routes and shrine areas to ensure the safety of devotees.
Weather Forecast:
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at several places across all districts of Uttarakhand. Snowfall is expected in areas situated above 3,500 metres. Districts like Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli may experience heavy rainfall and snowfall in isolated high-altitude locations.
