Moscow, March 31 — A dramatic incident unfolded in the Russian capital when President Vladimir Putin’s ultra-secure Aurus Senat limousine reportedly caught fire near the Federal Security Service (FSB) headquarters. The explosion that preceded the fire has raised serious concerns about presidential security.

According to reports aired by the British news channel GBN on March 29, the £275,000 ($350,000) armored limousine was engulfed in flames shortly after the blast. Emergency responders arrived on the scene as local restaurant staff and bystanders attempted to control the fire.
Limousine Catches Fire After Explosion
Eyewitness footage circulating online shows thick smoke billowing from the rear end of the vehicle, which was completely charred. Initial investigations suggest the fire might have originated in the engine compartment before spreading rapidly to the interior. However, the cause of the explosion remains unknown.
Sources say the limousine belongs to the Presidential Property Management Department of the Kremlin, further confirming its link to the Russian leadership.
Russia’s Ultra-Secure Presidential Vehicle
The Aurus Senat limousine, specially built for President Putin, is designed by the Russian company NAMI in collaboration with the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engine Institute. Known for its bulletproof and blast-resistant features, the limousine is essentially a moving bunker.
Key Specifications and Features:
Length: 6.7 meters
Weight: 2,700 kg
Fully armored and bulletproof
Blast-proof from top and undercarriage
Self-contained oxygen supply system
Run-flat tires for emergency escapes
Encrypted global communication system
Equipped with onboard defensive weapon systems
These features enable the car to withstand bomb attacks and chemical threats while maintaining secure communication globally.
Security Concerns Amplified
Although President Putin was not present in the vehicle at the time of the explosion, the incident has sparked concerns around possible security breaches. Authorities have not yet commented on the nature of the explosion or whether foul play is suspected.
The Russian security services have launched an investigation into the incident. The footage and details suggest that despite the vehicle’s elite defense mechanisms, a catastrophic failure or external threat may have compromised it.
As tensions in the region remain high and Russia continues to face increasing domestic and international scrutiny, any attack—attempted or accidental—on presidential assets will be watched closely.
