Jamnagar, March 4, 2025: On the occasion of World Wildlife Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vantara Animal Conservation Center, a pioneering wildlife sanctuary in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Spanning an impressive 3,000 acres, Vantara is a visionary initiative led by Anant Ambani, son of renowned industrialist Mukesh Ambani, aimed at the protection, rehabilitation, and conservation of endangered species.
The Prime Minister inspected the cutting-edge facilities at Vantara, including an advanced multi-specialty animal hospital, and personally fed cubs of white lions, tigers, and rhinos, highlighting his commitment to wildlife preservation.

A Grand Welcome Amidst Traditional Rituals
Upon arrival, PM Modi was welcomed by the Ambani family in a traditional ceremony, featuring the resonant sounds of conch shells, Vedic chants, and vibrant folk performances. He also participated in a prayer ritual at the temple on the premises, marking the spiritual and cultural significance of the occasion.

During his visit, the Prime Minister toured Vantara’s state-of-the-art veterinary hospital, which offers advanced diagnostic equipment such as:
- CT Scans
- MRIs
- Ultrasounds
- Endoscopy
- ICU and Operation Theaters for animals
He also inspected a dedicated nursery for newborn animal cubs and applauded the dedication of veterinarians and caretakers working tirelessly to ensure the well-being of the animals.
PM Modi Interacts with Endangered Species
A key highlight of PM Modi’s visit was his interaction with some of the rarest and most endangered species housed at Vantara. He observed and personally fed:
- White lion cubs
- Asian lion cubs
- Tiger cubs
- Rhino cubs
Additionally, he got a close view of rare and dangerous animals such as the:
- Golden Tiger
- White Lion
- Snow Leopard
- Clouded Leopard
Vantara serves as a sanctuary for numerous endangered species, including the Asian Lion, Snow Leopard, and One-Horned Rhinoceros, reinforcing its role as a global hub for wildlife preservation.
