PM inaugurates Eastern Peripheral Expressway

Completed in a record time of 500 days, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway will decongest roads and will also reduce air pollution in Delhi NCR.

Around 50,000 freight vehicles that cross Delhi only to go to neighbouring states like UP, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan will get diverted.

Also the time taken to reach Palwal from Kundli in Haryana come down from 4 hours to 72 minutes.

PM INAUGURATES 1ST PHASE OF DELHI-MEERUT EXPRESSWAY

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 1st phase of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was also present on the occasion. Around nine kilometer long expressway with 14 lanes runs from Nizammudin bridge to Delhi-UP border. 

The remaining part of the 96 km long expressway is likely to be completed by 2019.

The Delhi-Meerut Expressway, which will have dedicated bicycle tracks on the nearly 28-km stretch between Delhi and Dasna, will cut travel time between Delhiand Meerut to 45 minutes from two-and-half hour now.

The total length of the project is 82 km, of which the first 27.74 kms will be 14-laned, while the rest will be 6-lane expressway.

The Project will provide faster and safer connectivity between Delhi and Meerut with people from the Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand benefitting. 

PM Narendra Modi also held road show after inauguration of first phase of Delhi-Meerut Expressway. A Huge crowd were present at the Expressway to get a glimpse of the Prime Minister.
