Washington, January 3 – A tragic plane crash in Fullerton, Southern California, claimed the lives of two individuals and left at least 18 others injured on Thursday. The accident occurred when a small plane collided with the roof of a commercial warehouse, triggering a fire. Emergency responders evacuated 100 people from the warehouse to safety.

The aircraft involved was identified as a single-engine Van’s RV-10. Data from FlightAware, a flight-tracking service, revealed that the plane had taken off at 2:07 PM from the municipal airport. Moments later, the pilot reported an emergency requiring an immediate landing.

Audio recordings from air traffic control provide a chilling timeline of events:

  • The pilot initially declared intentions to land on Runway 6, prompting air traffic control to redirect other planes.
  • A shift in decision saw the pilot opting for Runway 24 instead.
  • Less than a minute later, the pilot was heard exclaiming, “Oh my God,” followed by radio silence.

It remains unclear whether the registered owner of the aircraft, a Huntington Beach resident, was aboard at the time of the crash.

Casualties and Emergency Response

The crash resulted in two fatalities and left 18 people injured, many of whom suffered burns. Immediate medical arrangements were made for the injured at nearby facilities. Authorities confirmed that 100 people were safely evacuated from the warehouse during the fire.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined. Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung stated that investigations are ongoing. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are expected to probe the incident thoroughly.
