Antigua, June 21 (Udaipur Kiran) – Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins achieved a remarkable feat by taking a hat-trick against Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup Super 8 match on Friday. Cummins became the seventh bowler and the second Australian to take a hat-trick in T20 World Cup history. This was also the first hat-trick of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Cummins’ first two wickets came on the fifth and sixth balls of the 18th over, both on hard-length deliveries. Mahmudullah attempted to pull Cummins but ended up playing the ball back onto his stumps. Before that, Mehidy Hasan hit Cummins’ delivery straight into the hands of the fielder positioned at deep third.
He completed his hat-trick at the start of the final over by dismissing the dangerous Towhid Hridoy with a slower ball. Hridoy attempted to scoop the ball over his shoulder, but Cummins deceived him, resulting in an easy catch for the short fine leg fielder.
Before Cummins, only Brett Lee had taken a hat-trick for Australia, also against Bangladesh. In 2007, Brett Lee dismissed Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, and Alok Kapali to complete his hat-trick.
