Udaipur, India – May 9, 2025: Pacific University, Udaipur has announced a significant rural development initiative under the Government of India’s Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The program, scheduled for May 9 and 10, will engage 16 villages across Rajasthan with a comprehensive outreach involving education, health, sanitation, environmental awareness, and local empowerment.
Multidimensional Activities to Drive Grassroots Development
As part of this initiative, the university will organize community-centric activities including awareness discussions on hygiene, education, and self-reliance. Poster-making and slogan-writing contests will be held to foster youth engagement, while door-to-door campaigns and interactive sessions will promote responsible citizenship.
According to Rahul Agrawal from the Pacific Group, national progress can only be achieved through inclusive rural empowerment. “Pacific’s mission extends beyond academic boundaries; we are committed to being catalysts for positive social change,” he said.
Pacific University CEO Sharad Kothari emphasized the institution’s dual commitment to quality education and societal transformation. “Through dedicated involvement in rural development and public engagement, the university is setting a benchmark for community-driven progress,” he noted.
Traditional Sports, Clean Energy, and Environmental Action on the Agenda
University President Prof. Hemant Kothari announced that traditional rural sports like kabaddi, kho-kho, gilli-danda, and wrestling will also be featured. “These sports promote not only physical well-being but also reinforce Indian cultural values and unity,” he said.
Prof. Dilendra Hiran, Chairman of the Faculty of Science and Technology, stated that campaigns will encourage reduced plastic use, proper waste disposal, toilet hygiene, and renewable energy adoption. Local Panchayats and schools will assist in promoting sustainable living through solar power, biogas, and wind energy awareness sessions.
Dean of Arts Faculty, Prof. T.P. Ameta, highlighted the importance of green initiatives. Activities will include education on rainwater harvesting, organic farming, zero-chemical cultivation, and collective gardening.
Dr. Anurag Mehta, Principal of Business Studies, added that the university will provide verified health and safety information on mosquito-borne diseases, immunization for pregnant women and children, and safe drinking water practices.
Academic Leaders Unite for Rural Change
The campaign was officially inaugurated with a poster launch ceremony attended by deans and directors from all faculties. Academic leaders including Prof. S.R. Malu, Prof. V.K. Bhadoria, Prof. P.K. Choudhary, Prof. Pushpa Mehdu, Prof. Dipin Mathur, Prof. Khel Shankar Vyas, Prof. Neeraj Shrimali, and Prof. Anil Jain praised the initiative as a well-planned and impactful step toward sustainable rural development.
