Opposition Disrupts Lok Sabha Proceedings, Adjourned Until March 9

New Delhi, February 13: The Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned until March 9 due to continuous disruptions caused by opposition members on Friday. Prior to the adjournment, several ministers presented documents related to their ministries.

The session began at 11 AM amidst chaos, with opposition members shouting slogans and demanding the resignation of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri over alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh raised concerns regarding several deaths linked to codeine syrup and demanded a compensation of five lakh rupees for victims in both Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, along with a CBI investigation to apprehend those responsible.

During question hour, Union Health Minister JP Nadda stood to address queries regarding deaths related to cough syrup. Amidst the uproar, he responded to the Congress leader’s question, stating that no deaths had occurred due to ‘codeine’, thus negating the need for compensation.

Despite this, opposition members from Congress, TMC, and DMK continued to disrupt the proceedings. The presiding officer, Sandhya Rai, urged the opposition to allow the house to function, but the commotion persisted, leading to an adjournment until noon.

In the afternoon, the house reconvened, and several ministers presented their documents. Subsequently, Sandhya Rai announced the adjournment of the house until March 9.

Before the Lok Sabha session, opposition members also protested outside the parliament premises regarding the Epstein files, raising issues to corner the government over alleged communications between Hardeep Singh Puri and Jeffrey Epstein. However, Union Minister Hardeep Puri completely dismissed the Congress’s claims.
