Mumbai, May 2: The grand 18th Newsmakers Awards 2026 took place in Mumbai on Friday, honoring distinguished personalities from various fields for their exceptional contributions. The event was organized by Vaidehi Taman, with Maharashtra’s Governor, Jagdish Mukhi, gracing the occasion as the chief guest. Notable figures from arts, culture, administration, sports, and social sectors were recognized during the ceremony.
Among the attendees were renowned singer Hariharan, celebrated chef Sanjeev Kapoor, actor Dilip Joshi, theatre artist Atul Tiwari, and actress and wellness coach Pooja Bedi. Additionally, individuals making significant contributions in sports, administration, and education were also honored, including IPS officer Amitesh Kumar, IRS officer Sameer Wankhede, IAS Nidhi Chaudhary, and wildlife conservationist Lieutenant Kushagra Pathak.
Veteran singer Usha Mangeshkar expressed her joy in an interview, stating that such events allow her to meet people from diverse fields and understand their work better. She emotionally remembered the legendary singer Asha Bhosle, saying her passing is a significant loss for the country. Mangeshkar noted that Bhosle always believed in staying active and remained dedicated to her work until the end.
Actor Dilip Joshi expressed gratitude to the organizers for the award, calling it a special honor that inspires him to work better in the future. He praised his co-actor Rakesh Bedi as an experienced and humble artist from whom he has always learned.
Chef Sanjeev Kapoor also found the recognition inspiring, stating that receiving an award from the governor makes it even more special. He described receiving the award on Maharashtra Day as a proud moment that motivates him to excel further in his field.
