NEW DELHI: Meta’s WhatsApp resumed service on Wednesday after an hours-long outage that disrupted services for thousands of users worldwide.

At its peak, over 24,000 WhatsApp users in the US and 5,000 Instagram users experienced disruption in service.
About 1,000 people in the US still faced Instagram issues, as per Downdetector, which tracks such incidents by collating status reports from a number of sources including user-submitted errors on its platform.
The outage also affected users in India, the UK, and Brazil.
Last month, hundreds of thousands of users of the Facebook and Instagram faced outage of more than two hours due a technical issue.
Meta has about 3.19 billion daily active users across apps, which also includes Threads.
