Regional Media Workshop “Vartalap” Held in Udaipur
Udaipur, 22 August 2025 (Kiran News): A regional media workshop titled “Vartalap” was organized today in Udaipur by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Jaipur, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The event also marked the inauguration of an exhibition by the Central Bureau of Communication, highlighting the Central Government’s achievements over the past 11 years. The exhibition was jointly inaugurated by Babulal Kharadi, Minister for Tribal Area Development, Government of Rajasthan, and Tarachand Jain, MLA, Udaipur city.

Over 100 print and electronic media professionals from Udaipur city and surrounding rural areas participated in the day-long workshop.
Speaking as the chief guest, Cabinet Minister Babulal Kharadi urged the media to focus on fact-based reporting to enhance their credibility. He appealed to journalists to actively disseminate information about the government’s public welfare schemes so that the general public could benefit from them. Referring to the success of Operation Sindoor and the role of the armed forces, he noted that India has emerged stronger in every field under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further emphasized that the Indian Army is fully capable of facing any challenge.
Addressing the workshop as a special guest, Udaipur city MLA Tarachand Jain said that many misleading reports circulated on social media during Operation Sindoor were later found to be false through government media verification. He praised the Prime Minister’s efforts over the past eleven years in strengthening India’s global standing and economy. He highlighted that India now ranks third globally in economic terms due to steps taken to economically empower the public.
On this occasion, Ritu Shukla, Additional Director General of PIB Jaipur, provided an overview of the bureau’s activities and gave a presentation on the objectives of “Vartalap”. She stated that the initiative aims to equip district-level journalists with detailed knowledge about central government schemes and current topics, helping them to inform and educate the public through their platforms. She also explained the Press Service Portal managed by the Press Registrar General of India and the token system used by the Central Bureau of Communication for advertisements. Information was also shared regarding the Journalist Welfare Fund. She reminded social and digital media professionals that it is mandatory to register with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
In the workshop’s technical session, Ajit Kumar, Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioner, Rajasthan Zone, said that the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana would enhance the employability of India’s youth. He stated that the scheme, launched on 1 August 2025 with a budget of ₹1 lakh crore, is India’s largest employment initiative to date and will continue until 31 July 2027. The scheme aims to generate over 3.5 crore jobs and will act as a bridge between job seekers and job providers.
Kanika Kalia, Head of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Rajasthan, emphasized the media’s important role in consumer empowerment. She shared that BIS promotes standardization, certification, and quality control of goods, which is vital for a developed nation. Consumers can report product quality-related issues via the BIS Care App. She added that more than 600 standard clubs have been established across Rajasthan with over 3 lakh students involved.
Also speaking in the session, Rajkumar Meena, General Manager, Bank of Baroda and Convener, State Level Bankers’ Committee, briefed journalists on financial inclusion, digital transactions, and social security schemes. He explained that the Financial Inclusion Saturation Scheme was launched on 1 July 2025 to ensure that banking services help deliver government benefits to every citizen. He stressed that media presence is crucial to ensure that information about these schemes reaches the right people. He also discussed self-employment training institutions like RSETI and RUDSETI and urged the media to raise public awareness about preventing banking cyber frauds.
