Bhopal, February 26: In a significant move to enhance industrial education, Madhya Pradesh has entered into an agreement with the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Western Region, Mumbai) involving 85 colleges and eight universities. This initiative aims to provide apprenticeship opportunities for students pursuing industrial education in various educational institutions across the state.
The agreement was formalized during a ceremony held at Sarojini Naidu Government Girls Post Graduate Autonomous College in Bhopal, attended by Anupam Rajan, Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education, and Prabal Sipaha, Commissioner of Higher Education.
The state’s higher education department is focused on offering students practical education alongside their studies, thereby enhancing employability skills. The Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Program (AEDP) was promoted to align with the National Education Policy 2020, ensuring that education is job-oriented and meets industry needs.
Rajan highlighted that the AEDP, initiated in the academic year 2024-25, will facilitate apprenticeship opportunities for students, who will also receive a monthly stipend during their apprenticeship period. The program is supported by various private educational institutions, demonstrating a collaborative effort to bridge academic education with practical industry experience.
The primary objective of this agreement is to connect students in colleges and universities with apprenticeship opportunities, providing training and guidance for institutions implementing AEDP in the academic session 2025-26. This initiative aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills, preparing them for future employment opportunities.
