
Udaipur: Another leopard has been captured in Gogunda Gram Panchayat, 45 km from Udaipur. The leopard had preyed on a five-year-old girl on Wednesday night.
The leopard was robust and was constantly growling. Two of its teeth were broken. It is not yet clear whether the captured leopard is the man-eater.
The forest department team was searching for the leopard. A cage was set up to catch it, in which it was trapped around 2:30 am on Friday. This is the third leopard in this area to be trapped in a cage.
Regional Forest Officer Arjun Lal Meena said, “The leopard, along with the cage, was brought down from the hilly area and taken to the Sajjangarh Biological Park in Udaipur.”
On September 25, a 5-year-old girl, Suraj, daughter of Gamer Lal Gameti, was carried away by a leopard from a Bhil colony in Kudau village of Majawad Gram Panchayat in Gogunda area. The girl’s severed palm was found in the jungle.
Her body was lying a little further away. Before the villagers could do anything, the leopard came from among the bushes and picked up the body. After this, the forest department started searching for the leopard and the child’s body. After about 17 hours, around 12 noon on September 26, the child’s decapitated body was found.
