Anil Mehta, secretary of JSS in his letter said that the construction was in stark violation of the orders passed by the High Court in a PIL titled Rajendra Razdan Vs State of Rajasthan and Gulab Kothari Vs State of Rajasthan (Delivered on December 15, 2018). Further, the letter said that Udaipur Municipal Corporation is doing the construction without getting the required approval from the Lake Development Authority.
“The construction in question would adversely affect the existing heritage value and serenity of Pichhola- Swaroopsagar Lake and cause detrimental effects on the eco health of the lake . It will prove to be fatal for the avian and aquatic life of the lakes and eco sensitive surrounding areas” the letter read. Another issue raised in the letter was regarding review of proposal for erection statues at Vibhuti park at Fatehsagar Paal.“
The Municipal Corporation is all set to restart the erection of statues on the dam of Fatehsagar , without ensuring all safety and stability criteria and necessary provisions and measures . The order from municipal commissioner is only based on comments of experts from NIH Roorkee, MBM College Jodhpur and local governmental engineers which were given on the basis of mind mapping and visual inspection only. No relevant scientific investigation or technical tests have been performed so far” Mehta wrote. He also said that the relevant SOP as per manuals and standard methods has not been followed.
