The duo forged a remarkable 195-run partnership for the third wicket, creating a new record for India’s highest partnership for any wicket against South Africa in ODI format.
The Kohli-Gaikwad partnership surpassed the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar and Dinesh Karthik, who had added 194 runs for the second wicket against South Africa in Gwalior on February 24, 2010.
In this match played in Raipur, Virat Kohli faced 93 balls and scored 102 runs with 2 sixes and 7 fours. This was his 53rd century in ODI cricket. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad got out after making 105 runs off 83 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 12 fours.
