Jodhpur, January 3 – Self-styled godman Asaram, serving a life sentence in Jodhpur Central Jail for sexually assaulting a minor girl at his ashram, has once again been hospitalized after his health worsened. Asaram, who returned to Jodhpur just two days ago after receiving treatment in Maharashtra, was rushed to Aarogyam Medical Center in Bhagat Ki Kothi on Friday afternoon after complaints of discomfort due to an increased heartbeat.
Health Emergency and Immediate Medical Attention
According to jail officials, Asaram began feeling uneasy as his heartbeat surged, prompting the prison administration to arrange for immediate medical assistance. He was escorted to Aarogyam Medical Center under tight security for further treatment.
Recently, Asaram was granted parole by the Rajasthan High Court for medical treatment, during which he received care at Madhavbaug Hospital in Maharashtra. After his parole period ended, he was brought back to Jodhpur Central Jail, but his health deteriorated again, necessitating urgent medical intervention.
Tight Security Deployment Around Hospital
Given Asaram’s significant following, the police took stringent measures to ensure law and order around the hospital. Barricades were erected 50 meters on both sides of the hospital, and RAC personnel were deployed to maintain order and prevent any crowd buildup by his supporters.
Despite his conviction in a serious criminal case, Asaram continues to command a massive following, with many of his devotees still worshipping him as a god-like figure. Whenever Asaram steps outside prison for any reason, large crowds gather to catch a glimpse of him, often complicating the security situation. The authorities, anticipating such a scenario, fortified the area around the hospital to prevent any untoward incident.
