Jamshedpur FC Secures 2-0 Victory Over FC Goa in Thrilling Match

Mumbai, May 2: In an exhilarating encounter in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26, Jamshedpur FC clinched a crucial 2-0 victory against FC Goa on Friday. The first half saw Jamshedpur dominate possession but fail to convert their chances into goals. It was in the 82nd minute that Mohammad Sanan broke the deadlock, followed by a second goal from Madiha Talal in stoppage time, sealing the win for Jamshedpur.

The match took place at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, where Jamshedpur, known as the ‘Red Miners’, now tops the points table with 21 points from 11 matches, while FC Goa slips to third place with 19 points. Talal’s outstanding performance, particularly his decisive goal, earned him the title of ‘Player of the Match’.

Jamshedpur’s head coach Owen Coyle made no changes to the winning team that had previously defeated Chennaiyin FC 4-1. In contrast, FC Goa’s head coach Manolo Marquez was forced to make a change due to an injury to Dejan Drajić, bringing in midfielder Mohammad Yasir.

FC Goa started the match with more possession, testing Jamshedpur’s goalkeeper Albino Gomes early on with a long-range shot from forward Muhammad Nemil. The match was briefly halted due to inclement weather, but once resumed, Jamshedpur gradually took control.

As the first half progressed, the home team created several scoring opportunities. In the 24th minute, winger Mohammad Sanan unleashed a powerful shot that was narrowly saved by goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari. Midfielder Madiha Talal also came close with a header that went just wide of the post.

The second half saw Jamshedpur maintain their dominance, with Talal and Nikola Stojanović controlling the midfield. FC Goa struggled to mount attacks, although Nemil and Yasir tested Gomes with long-range efforts around the 60th minute.

In the 74th minute, Coyle introduced midfielder Re Tachikawa, a move that proved pivotal. Shortly after, striker Messi Bouli attempted a header from a set-piece but missed the target.

Finally, in the 83rd minute, Jamshedpur found success. From a corner taken by Talal, Tachikawa’s header bounced inside the six-yard box, allowing Sanan to flick the ball past Goa’s defender Boris Singh and into the net, giving Jamshedpur the lead.

As FC Goa pushed for an equalizer, Jamshedpur held their ground. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Bouli’s aerial ball caused chaos in Goa’s defense, and substitute Ronny Wilson failed to clear it. Talal seized the opportunity, striking a precise shot from outside the box to confirm the match’s outcome. Jamshedpur FC maintained their grip in the final moments, securing a vital win and asserting their position at the top of the table.
