iPhone 16 series is expected to officially launch later this year, but now we’re hearing rumors about Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup.
Dubbed the iPhone 17 family, these products are said to feature improvements such as a fresh design, an improved front camera and a smaller dynamic island. Apple could also introduce a “Slim” version to replace the Plus version in the iPhone 17 series. The iPhone 17 Pro model is said to be equipped with Apple’s A19 Pro chip.
As 9to5Mac reports, Jeff Po of Haitong International Technology Research Company revealed details about the iPhone 17 series in a research note.

According to this analyst, the 2025 iPhone family will include four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The slim iPhone model will replace the Plus model and may offer a slimmer design.
The vanilla iPhone 17 is said to have a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 17 Slim may have a 6.6-inch display. iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screens, respectively.
The report adds that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim and iPhone 17 Pro will all feature “more sophisticated” aluminum designs. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to be made of titanium and feature a slim dynamic island.
In order to reduce the size of the Face ID sensor, Apple is probably using “Metalens” technology for the proximity sensor in this top model. Each model in the iPhone 17 series retains the current design.
Apple’s regular iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim can run on A18 or A19 chips that support 8GB of RAM. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are said to use the A19 Pro chip along with 12GB of RAM.
This is a significant upgrade over current iPhone models. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus currently have 6GB of RAM and the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have 8GB of RAM.
According to Pu, all four iPhone 17 models will have 24-megapixel front cameras. Apple is currently equipping its iPhone 15 series with a 12-megapixel front camera.
Apple is very consistent about its iPhone release date. With this in mind, we can expect the iPhone 17 series to launch in September 2025.
