iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro Designs Leak via Dummy Unit Images With Action and Capture Buttons

Apple’s iPhone 16 series of smartphones (including iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max) have several notable features, including a capture button for quickly taking photos and videos. It is expected to hit the market later this year. With additional features, the non-Pro models also feature the action buttons from last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. A recently leaked image of a model device appears to confirm an earlier leak regarding the design of the upcoming phone.

Tipster Sonny Dickson (@SonnyDickson) shared three images of model devices for all four iPhone 16 series smartphone models via X (formerly Twitter). These images help illustrate some of the changes coming to Apple’s upcoming smartphone lineup, including a redesigned rear camera layout for the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

The previous leak suggested that Apple will equip the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 models with a vertical camera arrangement, as opposed to the diagonal rear camera arrangement introduced with the iPhone 13. A dummy unit in the leaked image also shows the pill in question. Both devices have a geometric design, although the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max appear slightly larger than the standard model.

The second leaked image shows that all four models of the iPhone 16 series will come with an action button on the left side of the phone. The Action button, first introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, replaces the mute switch and can be reprogrammed to launch other tasks or shortcuts.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 series also has a dedicated capture button that allows users to quickly click pictures. A previous leak suggested that the new button would be placed on the right side of the phone, and a third image with a mock-up unit also shows it in the same position.

It is worth noting that there are still a few months left until Apple introduces the iPhone 16 smartphones. The company is expected to announce new features for iOS 18 and macOS 15 at WWDC 2024 on June 10, and details about the company’s next smartphone may be revealed in the months leading up to its launch. End of 2024.
