New Delhi, March 7 (Udaipur Kiran): On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has highlighted efforts by women worldwide in promoting Olympic values through a special article published on its website. The article prominently features India as an example, showcasing initiatives supported by the Reliance Foundation.

According to the article, the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) is helping spread values such as sportsmanship, respect, fairness and teamwork among children across India. Since 2024, the programme has reached more than 65,000 schools and benefitted around 1.2 crore children across the country.
With support from the IOC and Reliance Foundation, the initiative has also expanded to Anganwadi centres operating in rural and low-income communities. Women associated with 120 Anganwadi centres have conducted more than 1,200 OVEP sessions so far.
The article cites the example of a student named Ruchi from an Anganwadi centre in Madhya Pradesh, explaining how sports and value-based activities are helping build confidence and participation among children, particularly girls.
The role of Nita Ambani in advancing the Olympic movement in India has also been acknowledged. She serves as the chairperson of the Reliance Foundation and is also a member of the International Olympic Committee, actively working to promote sports and Olympic values across wider sections of society.
Apart from India, the IOC article also mentions initiatives in Saudi Arabia, Senegal and Italy, where efforts are being made to connect Olympic values with education and communities through women’s participation.
