Intel has brought out new hardware aimed at the task of improving artificial intelligence workflows. The firm unveiled the Xeon 6 processor with new Performance-cores (P-cores) and Gaudi 3 AI Accelerator to enterprise customers and data centres on Tuesday. In a statement, the chipmaker reveals that the new hardware will offer both higher throughput and better cost optimization to provide optimum performance per watt and a more affordable total cost of ownership. According to the chipmaker, these products are launched so that businesses can respond to the ever-growing workload demands from more complex AI models.

Intel Xeon 6 Processor Launched
- The Intel Xeon 6, as the chipmaker claims, boasts Performance-cores. The processors won’t be sold retail and are instead intended to power data centers for enterprises to keep cloud servers online.
- That Xeon 6 gives double the performance of its predecessor with core count increases. It will provide also double the memory bandwidth and AI acceleration capabilities.
- Because it is hardware-based acceleration, so it will run support very large language models (LLMs) seamlessly. According to Intel, it can “meet the performance demands of AI from edge to data centre and cloud environments.”
Intel Announces Gaudi 3 AI Accelerators
Gaudi 3 is an Intel AI Accelerator from the latest generation. It is a specialized hardware chip that helps speed up AI tasks, especially concerning deep learning, machine learning, or neural networks. They include GPUs, Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), FPGAs (Field-Programmable Gate Arrays), and NPUs (Neural Processing Units).
The Gaudi 3 AI Accelerator has 64 Tensor processor cores and eight matrix multiplication engines, (MMEs), designed specifically to accelerate the computations of deep neural networks. It supports 128 GB of HBM2e memory for training and inference as well as 24 200 GB Ethernet ports, which support scaling out the servers.
Intel’s newest AI Accelerator is supported by PyTorch framework and sophisticated Hugging Face transformer and diffuser models. Now, the company has already signed a deal with IBM for deploying Gaudi 3 on IBM Clouds. Similarly, Dell Technologies is utilizing the infrastructure for its data centers.
