India Sets 359-Run Target for South Africa in Raipur ODI

Raipur, December 3 – Riding on centuries from Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad, India set a challenging target of 359 runs for South Africa in the second ODI match. Team India leads the three-match series 1-0, and the hosts are looking to clinch the series with a victory in this crucial encounter.

South Africa won the toss and invited Team India to bat first. The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal put together a 40-run partnership in 4.5 overs before Rohit was dismissed for 14 runs. Shortly after, Yashasvi Jaiswal (22) also returned to the pavilion.

From this point, Virat Kohli joined forces with Ruturaj Gaikwad to build a massive third-wicket partnership of 195 runs off 156 balls, putting India in a commanding position.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 105 runs off 83 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 12 fours before getting out. Meanwhile, Kohli played an innings of 102 runs off 93 balls, decorated with 2 sixes and 12 fours.

This was Virat Kohli’s 53rd ODI century. In the first match of the ODI series, Kohli had scored 135 runs.

Captain KL Rahul came to bat at number five. He formed an unbeaten partnership of 69 runs for the sixth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja, helping India reach a massive total.

KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 66 runs off 43 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 6 fours, while Ravindra Jadeja played an unbeaten innings of 24 runs off 27 balls. India scored 358 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

For South Africa, Marco Jansen took 2 wickets giving away 63 runs in 10 overs, while Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger picked up 1 wicket each.

India had won the first ODI match against South Africa in Ranchi by 17 runs. In this situation, South Africa must win this match at all costs to stay alive in the series.
