Reasi, May 1: The Reasi police in Jammu and Kashmir have successfully curbed illegal liquor trade under the ongoing drug-free Jammu and Kashmir campaign, guided by SSP Mukund Tibrewal.
On the night of April 30, a police team from Katra police station set up a checkpoint in Parthal, Katra. During the search, they apprehended a local resident, Balbir Singh, son of Malakar Singh, and conducted a search of his belongings.
The search revealed two half bottles of illegally stored alcohol (approximately 350 milliliters each) and three bottles of Groovy Jera Rum (approximately 180 milliliters each).
An FIR has been registered at Katra police station under section 223(A) BNS, and further investigations are underway. The Reasi police remain committed to eliminating the dangers of substance abuse and urge the public to share information and cooperate regarding illegal activities.
In a related effort to combat drug threats, the Banihal police recently arrested a drug trafficker and seized a heroin-like substance. During a routine checkpoint at Railway Chowk, a police team from Banihal police station noticed a suspicious individual and apprehended him. The search resulted in the recovery of 4.54 grams of a heroin-like substance and polyethylene from the suspect, identified as Tauheed Ahmed Khan, son of Jan Mohammad Khan, a resident of Hamdania Colony, Bemina, Srinagar.
