Honor Magic V2 Makes Global Debut As World’s Slimmest Foldable at IFA 2023

Honor Magic V2 made a global debut on September 1, alongside Honor V Purse, at IFA 2023 that took place in Berlin. The smartphone was previously launched in China in July 2023. The latest foldable from Honor weighs only 231g. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and packs a 5,000mAH battery. The company has not announced the launch date and the pricing details of the smartphone yet. Meanwhile, the Honor V Purse gets an outward folding design, and can be carried like a handbag.

The company has not yet announced the release date of the Honor Magic V2 in European markets. However, according to the Android Commission report, the launch is confirmed in the first quarter of 2024. According to the listing, the foldable smartphone will also launch in select markets such as Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. It is also expected to appear in certain Latin American markets.

The global price of this smartphone has not been announced yet. Recall that in China, the base variant with 16GB RAM + 256GB internal storage was launched at a starting price of 8,999 Yuan (roughly Rs. 103,000), while the 16GB RAM + 512GB model is priced at 9,999 Yuan. (about $1.14). 500 rupees). The high-end 16GB RAM + 1TB storage variant was priced at RMB 11,999 (Rs 1,37,400 approx).

Like its Chinese version of the Honor Magic V2, the Honor Magic V2 for global markets has a 6.43-inch external display with a resolution of 2376 x 1060 pixels and an internal 7.92-inch display with a resolution of 2344 x 2156 pixels. Both OLED displays have a 120 Hz refresh rate. The foldable device is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, paired with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. It runs MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13 out of the box.

In terms of optics, it has three rear camera units housed in a rectangular block. The setup includes a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 20MP telephoto lens. Meanwhile, both the internal and external screens of the Honor Magic V2 have been equipped with a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The foldable device is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 66W Honor Supercharge support. Honor Magic V2 also supports 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.3 LE, GPS, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity.
