Historic Milestone: Hisar Gets Direct Train Connectivity to Chandigarh and Gurugram After 59 Years

Hisar, May 17 — In a momentous development for Haryana, Hisar district has been connected directly to Chandigarh by train for the first time in 59 years. The long-awaited rail link was officially inaugurated today from Hisar’s Raipur station, fulfilling a demand that dates back to the formation of the state.

Summer Special Trains

The first train departed at 2:00 PM, flagged off jointly by Member of Parliament Naveen Jindal and his mother, MLA Savitri Jindal, in the presence of railway officials, including the General Manager of North Western Railway from Jaipur.

🚆 Chandigarh & Gurugram Now Directly Connected

  • The Chandigarh-bound train will run from Raipur (Hisar) via Barwala, Uklana, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, and Mohali, reaching Amb Andaura in Himachal Pradesh by 12:40 PM.

  • The return journey begins at 3:00 PM from Amb Andaura and reaches Raipur, Hisar by 1:05 AM the next day.

Simultaneously, a direct fast passenger train from Satrod (Hisar) to Gurugram has also commenced operations. It will cover key stations such as Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Rewari, and Hansi.

Final Destination (Amb Andaura): 12:40 PM

MLA Savitri Jindal called the new rail service “a link connecting Hisar’s dreams to the state capital.” MP Naveen Jindal highlighted how the rail link will reduce travel time and boost access to education, healthcare, and trade opportunities for the region.

Previously, travelers from Hisar had to rely on multiple transfers or long bus journeys to reach Chandigarh and Gurugram. The new service is expected to significantly reduce travel time and costs, making intercity commuting more accessible.
