UDAIPUR, June 15 (Udaipur Kiran) : Senior Mewar historian Dr J.K. Ojha has been selected for this year’s prestigious “Pratap Gaurav Samman”, presented annually on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti under the aegis of Maharaj Shatru Daman Singh Shivrati Vidyapeeth Sansthan.
Shivrati Research Institute Director and historian Dr Ajat Shatru Singh Shivrati said that Dr Ojha has brought several unexplored aspects of history to light through his research papers. He has presented numerous research papers on Rajasthan at international and national-level history conferences.
Around 150 of his research papers have been published in various research journals, books, Indian History Congress proceedings and Rajasthan History Congress proceedings. He has authored nearly 15 books and edited several others.
Dr Ojha served as Joint Secretary of the Rajasthan History Congress for about 10 years. He has completed one project of the UGC and around four projects of the I.C.H.R. He is also recognised for his expertise in manuscript reading. He has presented a research paper at the SAARC Festival on Sufism.
For his distinguished contribution to the field of history, Dr Ojha was honoured by Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Kanod, in 1995. In 2001, he received the Maharana Kumbha Samman from the Maharana Mewar Foundation, Udaipur. He has also been honoured with Salila Samman, Nagarik Abhinandan Mandal, Rajasthan Lok Kala Kendra Mandal Prashasti Patra, Dr Rajendra Prakash Bhatnagar Smriti Samman, Dr Gopinath Sharma Lok Jeevan Samman and Premchand Srijanpeeth Ujjain Abhinandan.
The institution has previously honoured distinguished historians including Dr Rajshekhar Vyas, Dr Devilal Paliwal, Dr Brijmohan Jawalia, Prof. K.S. Gupta, Prof. Girishnath Mathur, Dr Chandrashekhar Sharma, Dr G.L. Menaria, Dr Rajendra Nath Purohit and Prof. Meena Gaur with the Pratap Gaurav Samman.
As part of the honour, Dr J.K. Ojha will be presented with a shawl, uparna, turban, citation, aska, coconut, memento and a statue of Maharana Pratap.
