Udaipur (Udaipur Kiran): On the occasion of World Cancer Day, special cancer awareness and screening camps were organised across Rajasthan and Uttarakhand under the Mobile Health Van Project run by Mamta HIMC, with support from the CSR department of Hindustan Zinc Limited.

The campaign was conducted at five key locations—Zawar in Udaipur, Dariba in Rajsamand, Chanderiya in Chittorgarh, Agucha in Bhilwara, and Pantnagar in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about cancer in rural and tribal areas, help identify early symptoms of the disease, and emphasise the importance of timely treatment.
During the programme, special focus was given to women and people who consume tobacco, making them aware of the risks associated with oral, breast and cervical cancer. Through interactive sessions, doctors and nurses from the mobile health vans explained the causes of cancer and preventive measures in the local language.
Free health check-ups, including oral examination, BMI and blood pressure tests, were conducted on the spot. Individuals found with symptoms or risk factors related to cancer were guided about further treatment and available government health services. Efforts were also made to address and dispel myths, misconceptions and fear related to cancer.
Through these sessions, hundreds of villagers were sensitised towards health and cancer prevention. Participants not only understood the importance of cancer screening but also took a pledge to quit tobacco and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
