Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc’s CSR initiative, Project Samadhan, has partnered with the Central Institute for Arid Horticulture (CIAH), Bikaner, an Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) institute, to successfully launch a Free Vegetable Seed Kit Distribution Program from October 7th to 10th. The initiative aims to support local farmers and boost agricultural productivity in various panchayats around Udaipur’s rural areas.
Approximately 2,000 farmers from the Zawar, Tidi, Amarpura, and Chanavada panchayats received high-quality vegetable seed kits. These kits included seeds for eight vegetables: spinach, radish, mustard, tomato, peas, onion, carrot, fenugreek, and coriander. The program aligns with government schemes promoting agricultural development, operating under the Scheduled Tribe Sub Plan (STSP) facilitated by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The diverse selection of seeds contributes to improving crop variety and addressing nutritional needs.
In addition to seed distribution, the partnership with CIAH provided farmers with knowledge on sustainable farming practices. BAIF (Bharatiya Agro Industries Foundation), Hindustan Zinc’s project partner, played a pivotal role in organizing the program and ensuring its smooth implementation.
By consistently supporting local agriculture and fostering community partnerships, Project Samadhan is creating lasting positive impacts. This initiative ensures farmers have the necessary resources and expertise to thrive in a changing agricultural landscape. The Seed Distribution Program marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality of life for farmers and demonstrates Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and community upliftment.
