Hindustan Zinc

Udaipur, March 11, 2025 – Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), India’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, has further reinforced its commitment to sustainable energy by expanding its partnership with Serentica Renewables. With a new Power Delivery Agreement (PDA), Hindustan Zinc will now source 530 MW of round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy, up from the previously committed 450 MW, marking a significant step toward achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 or sooner.

This industry-first RTC renewable energy agreement ensures a minimum of 315 MW uninterrupted power supply in every 15-minute time block, setting a new benchmark for firm, dispatchable renewable energy solutions.

Strategic Impact: 70% Renewable Energy Integration

This enhanced capacity will now fulfill over 70% of Hindustan Zinc’s total power requirements, significantly reducing carbon emissions and reliance on conventional power sources. The first renewable power flow from Serentica’s 180 MW solar park has already commenced and is being utilized in producing Asia’s first low-carbon ‘green’ zinc – EcoZen.

Developed under a captive power structure, this project will be strategically located across multiple high-resource sites in India, incorporating solar, wind, and advanced energy storage systems to ensure seamless and reliable renewable energy supply. The project is expected to be fully operational by 2027.

Revolutionizing Industrial Energy Procurement

Unlike traditional renewable energy agreements, this PDA represents a paradigm shift in industrial power procurement by offering precisely scheduled and dispatchable energy. Through a combination of cutting-edge forecasting, advanced grid management, and energy storage innovations, Serentica Renewables is enabling industries to transition towards firm renewable power without compromising on stability or operational efficiency.

This agreement plays a critical role in India’s net-zero ambitions, demonstrating how large industrial players can decarbonize operations through next-generation renewable solutions.
