Shimla, March 6 : Himachal Pradesh witnessed clear and dry weather on Thursday, providing much-needed relief from the cold. Sunny conditions in Shimla and Manali helped residents and tourists enjoy a break from the chilly weather. However, some areas recorded minimum temperatures 2-3 degrees Celsius below normal, while moderate fog in Mandi district affected visibility.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that the dry spell will continue until March 8, after which a western disturbance will become active from March 9, leading to snowfall in high-altitude areas and rain in some parts of the state.

Yellow Alert Issued for March 10
The weather department has issued a Yellow Alert for March 10, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and rainfall in various regions. Moderate snowfall is also expected in higher elevations, which will lead to a further drop in temperatures.
Authorities have advised residents, especially those in mountainous and tribal areas, to remain cautious as the inclement weather may impact transportation and daily life.
Rain and Snow Expected on March 11 & 12
According to forecasts, the weather disturbance will persist, bringing rainfall in low-lying and mid-altitude areas, while higher regions will experience snowfall. The impact is expected to be severe in districts like Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, and Chamba, where the cold wave could intensify.
With the expected rain and snowfall, temperatures will drop significantly, particularly in tribal districts, where sub-zero temperatures are already being recorded.
