Gujarat Assembly Passes Bill on Illegal Property Transfers

Surat, March 26: The Gujarat Assembly has approved a bill aimed at curbing illegal property transfers. BJP legislator Sangeeta Patil described the legislation as a necessary step during discussions on Thursday. She raised concerns about the safety of Hindu families, questioning why a Muslim family could feel secure among 500 Hindu families, while the reverse was not true.

In her remarks, Patil highlighted ongoing issues with antisocial elements who manipulate documents to sell properties. She noted that some individuals rent shops or homes, only for others to follow suit, leading to entire societies becoming dominated by minority communities.

“I do not oppose anyone, but our Hindu brothers face physical and mental harassment,” Patil stated. She mentioned several localities, including Marutinagar and Padmavatinagar, where the demographic has shifted significantly towards the Muslim community, leaving only a few Hindu residents who wish to sell their properties due to the pressure they face.

Patil emphasized the need for Hindu families to sell properties only to other Hindus, while expressing no objection if Muslims sell to fellow Muslims. She raised these concerns in the Assembly to address the issues faced by her community.
