Heavy Rain Alert Issued for 24 Districts in Rajasthan Amid Rising Heat in Western Region

Jaipur, June 29 (News Desk) — After a largely dry Saturday, weather conditions shifted across several parts of Rajasthan with light to moderate rainfall reported in districts such as Sikar, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli, and Dholpur. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jaipur centre, has issued a yellow alert for 24 districts for Sunday, forecasting rainfall activity over the next four days.

Showers Return After Dry Spell

While western Rajasthan saw a rise in temperatures due to reduced rainfall activity, eastern and southern regions experienced brief but significant showers. Sikar’s Neem Ka Thana recorded 25 mm rainfall, while Bharatpur’s Deeg received 14 mm, and 15 mm was recorded in Vejna of Dungarpur district. Continuous rain was reported from Kotra in Udaipur, where two youths were swept away while trying to cross a river.

Rainfall Surpasses Averages in June

Between June 1 and June 28, Rajasthan has witnessed 155% more rainfall than the seasonal average. Against the normal 43.3 mm, the state has already received 110.3 mm of rainfall, as per data from the weather department.

Mercury Rises in Western Rajasthan

Despite showers in some regions, western Rajasthan continues to face intense heat and humidity, especially in Sri Ganganagar, which recorded the highest temperature at 41.4°C. Other notably hot cities include:

• Bikaner: 38.5°C max, 28.4°C min

• Churu: 38.8°C max, 28.2°C min

• Hanumangarh: 37.1°C max, 28.3°C min

• Nagaur: 35°C max, 26.7°C min

Jaipur and Surrounding Divisions Witness Rain and Cloudy Skies

The state capital Jaipur recorded 33.6°C max and 26.4°C min, with a mix of clouds and sunlight throughout the day. The Bharatpur and Kota divisions also witnessed weather shifts, with sporadic rainfall and moderate temperature drops.
