Hawala dealer arrested with Rs 71 lakh in Udaipur

Udaipur : Udaipur’s Dhan Mandi police station and district special team arrested a hawala dealer with Rs 71 lakh on Friday. The accused is identified as Ishwar Bhai, who had brought the cash from Gujarat to Udaipur.

Police received information from a source that a hawala dealer was present at a plate shop in Delhi Gate area of the city with lakhs of rupees in cash. Based on the information, police reached the spot and searched the youth, who was found carrying a bag full of cash. Police counted the cash and found it to be a total of Rs 71 lakh 66 thousand 50. Ishwar Bhai did not have any valid documents for this cash.

As a result, police seized the cash and detained the accused for the time being. He was taken to Dhan Mandi police station. Police is interrogating accused Ishwar Bhai about the cash, where it came from and what it was to be used for.

Interrogation of accused underway

Police has started questioning the accused Ishwar Bhai about the source and use of the cash. Police said that the accused is a hawala dealer and he had brought the money from Gujarat to Udaipur to give to another person. Police is investigating the matter and action will be taken against the accused soon.
