New Delhi, September 4 (Kiran News). The GST Council has announced major relief for consumers by slashing tax rates on several products, including smart televisions. From September 22, only two GST slabs—5% and 18%—will apply on most goods, while luxury items will continue to attract 40% GST.

As part of the new structure, GST on smart TVs above 32 inches has been reduced from 28% to 18%. This will directly bring down prices of large-screen models from brands such as Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi, Thomson, Acer, and Blaupunkt. Customers purchasing after September 22 can expect significant savings.
Example: Samsung Vivid Pro 75-Inch Smart TV
The Samsung Vivid Pro 75-inch Smart Tizen TV is currently listed on Flipkart for ₹1,05,990. At the existing 28% GST rate, the tax component is around ₹23,185, making the effective base price about ₹82,804. With GST reduced to 18%, the tax will drop to ₹14,904, bringing the final price down to approximately ₹97,709. This means buyers will save around ₹8,281 compared to the current price.
Other 75-Inch Smart TVs That Will Get Cheaper
Sony Bravia 2 II 75-Inch Google TV – Listed at ₹1,26,990, featuring Ultra HD (4K) resolution and Google TV support.
Thomson Phoenix 75-Inch Smart TV – Priced at ₹69,999, equipped with a QLED Ultra HD (4K) display, Dolby Vision, and Atmos support.
Acer Advanced I Series 75-Inch Smart TV – Listed at ₹69,999, offering a 75-inch Ultra HD (4K) LED display.
Blaupunkt 75-Inch Smart TV – Priced at ₹69,999, featuring a QLED Ultra HD (4K) display, Google TV, and Dolby Vision + Atmos support.
With the GST reduction coming into effect on September 22, buyers planning to upgrade their living rooms with large-screen TVs can benefit from lower prices and better value.
