Hands-on images of the Pixel 9 Pro have leaked online, giving smartphone enthusiasts an idea of what to expect from the company’s next Pixel smartphone.
This year, the company plans to release its third model called Pixel 9 Pro XL. This means the Pixel 9 Pro isn’t the largest device in the lineup. Dubbed Pixel 9 Pro, this model is shown with a redesigned camera layout. The device will also feature a periscope telephoto camera, which can also be seen in the leaked images.
Images purportedly of the Pixel 9 Pro were published by Rozetked (in Russian, via GSMArena) earlier this week. One of the images shows the back of the phone with an oval camera island. Previous reports suggested that the Pixel 9 series would ditch the “visor” camera module in favor of a simpler camera island, and the leaked images appear to support those claims.
The publication also shared an image of the Pixel 9 Pro alongside the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Readers may remember that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro successors are smaller than last year’s models (like the iPhone 15), but the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a large display like Apple’s flagship models. – iPhone 15 Pro Max model.
Meanwhile, one of the leaked images shows the Pixel 9 Pro in “Fastboot” mode, the part of the bootloader used to flash a system image onto the phone. As shown in the image, the Pixel 9 Pro will come with 166GB Micron LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB internal storage.
According to recent reports, the Pixel 9 series and the rumored Pixel Pro Fold phone may have support for Samsung modems to aid satellite communications in an emergency.
A recent beta version of Google’s app for beta testers appears to confirm the name of the Pixel 9 series while also suggesting that the models will feature custom animations. More details are expected before the devices are announced later this year.
