Former RPSC Member Manju Sharma Moves Rajasthan High Court Against Single Bench Remarks in SI Exam Paper Leak Case

Jaipur, September 28 (Kiran News) – Former Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Manju Sharma has approached the High Court’s Division Bench challenging the remarks made by a Single Bench while cancelling the Sub-Inspector Recruitment 2021 over the paper leak case. The matter is likely to be heard on October 8, after the Dussehra vacation.

Rajasthan High Court

Advocate Deepak Chauhan, appearing on behalf of the appellant, argued that while deciding the SI recruitment paper leak case, the Single Bench made harsh and unfair remarks against Manju Sharma. He contended that Sharma was neither made a party to the petition nor given any opportunity to be heard during the proceedings. Moreover, the Special Operations Group (SOG) had not held her guilty in its investigation.

The appeal stated that merely referring to her name in a document cannot justify judicial remarks against a commission member. Such observations, made without evidence, have tarnished her integrity and reputation, causing social and professional harm. The petition also claimed that due to the mental distress caused by these remarks, she was compelled to resign from her position.

The appellant emphasized that no audio recordings or evidence exist to implicate her in the alleged misconduct, and the remarks were made without substantiation.

Remarks by the Single Bench

On August 28, the Single Bench of Justice Sameer Jain, while cancelling the SI recruitment process, made observations against former RPSC officials, including then Chairperson Sanjay Shrotriya and members Babulal Katra, Manju Sharma, Sangeeta Arya, and late Jaswant Rathi.

The order noted that former member Ramu Ram Raika had allegedly approached the RPSC chairperson and members to secure higher interview marks for his daughter Shobha Raika, suggesting possible favouritism and corruption within the Commission. The court observed that such involvement raised doubts over the fairness of both the interview and written examination stages of the recruitment process.
