Former Pakistan Cricketer Confident India Will Win Women’s World Cup Title

New Delhi, October 31 (Udaipur Kiran): After India’s thrilling five-wicket win over Australia in the semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 at DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria praised the Indian team’s exceptional performance and expressed confidence that India will lift the trophy this year.

World Cup Title

The former leg-spinner said, “The Indian women’s team has been performing brilliantly in this World Cup and are strong contenders for the title. The men’s team already won the Asia Cup, and now it’s time for the women’s team to win the ODI World Cup. After that, I believe India will also clinch the Men’s T20 World Cup.”

Kaneria lauded India’s semi-final performance against Australia, calling it a confidence booster before the final. “Australia is a strong side. Their players are extremely fit and even play alongside men in practice matches. They played well, but India’s women were outstanding and fully deserved the win,” he added.

He particularly praised Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur for their match-winning partnership. “Chasing 338 is never easy, but India showed great composure. Jemimah played a brilliant unbeaten innings and steered the team to victory. Her partnership with Harmanpreet was crucial after India lost early wickets. The lower order also contributed well. This team’s fitness, fielding, and attitude are all top-class,” Kaneria said.

On Thursday, Australia were bowled out for 338 runs in 49.5 overs, with Phoebe Litchfield scoring 119 and Ashleigh Gardner making 63. India successfully chased down the total in 48.3 overs, powered by Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten 127 off 134 balls and Harmanpreet Kaur’s 89 off 88 balls, as the duo stitched a 167-run stand for the third wicket.

With this victory, India advanced to the final against South Africa, set to be played on November 2 (Sunday).
