Chennai, February 25: According to the latest bulletin from the Regional Meteorological Centre, light fog is expected to persist in Chennai and several surrounding districts during the morning hours. Rain is forecasted in various parts of Tamil Nadu until March 1.
The weather department reported that the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has weakened, but its residual effects and moisture coming in from the sea are causing instability in the weather. As a result, moderate rainfall is likely in some areas of southern Tamil Nadu and northern districts.
Similarly, light to moderate rain is also expected in Puducherry and its Karaikal region. The weather department indicates that rainfall may continue across the state until March 1.
A significant reason for the change in weather is the shift in the direction of sea winds and the increase in moisture. Additionally, light fog is expected on Wednesday and Thursday mornings in Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, and Ranipet districts.
Due to the fog, visibility may be reduced in some interior areas and on highways. Authorities have advised drivers to exercise caution during the morning hours.
The weather department has also indicated that along with rain and fog, an increase in daytime temperatures may be recorded. By February 28, maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are expected to be 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal.
Experts suggest that the combination of increased heat during the day and foggy conditions in the morning reflects the ongoing seasonal changes in the region. Farmers and those in rain-dependent areas are advised to keep an eye on local weather updates.
The weather department stated that new warnings and advisories will be issued periodically in light of the changing conditions.
