25 Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested in Mumbai

Mumbai, February 25: In a significant operation, the Versova Police Station in Mumbai’s Andheri West area has arrested 25 Bangladeshi nationals. According to police reports, these individuals were residing illegally in India and had established a base in Mumbai for several years. Among those arrested are 21 transgender individuals, two women, and two men.

Police officials stated that they received a tip-off indicating that these individuals were gathering at a dargah on Yari Road late at night. Acting on this information, the Anti-Terror Cell (ATC) team of Versova Police conducted a raid and apprehended all suspects. During the operation, a large number of Indian and Bangladeshi documents were recovered from the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had illegally entered India from Bangladesh, first reaching Kolkata, then traveling through Delhi and Gujarat before arriving in Mumbai. After reaching the city, they had also obtained fake Indian identity cards and other documents. The police are now investigating the individuals involved in the preparation of these documents and the broader network associated with this operation.

The Versova Police have registered cases against all the accused under relevant sections of the law and have initiated the process of deporting them back to Bangladesh. Authorities have indicated that further investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals connected to this group and to take strict action against illegally residing foreign nationals. The police have stated that their campaign against illegal residents in the city will continue, with ongoing interrogations aimed at uncovering more individuals.

A police officer mentioned that a dedicated team had already been formed to locate illegally residing individuals, and they are actively taking action against them.
