Udaipur, May 17 — In a swift and coordinated operation, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of Udaipur Police rescued a Gujarat-based businessman who was abducted for ransom and arrested five accused within 18 hours of the incident.

The victim, Mukesh Kumar Joshi, was abducted on the evening of May 15 from Padrada Chauraha in the Saira police station area of Udaipur district. The abductors demanded a ransom of ₹20 lakh from his wife and threatened to kill him if their demand was not met.
According to the complaint filed by Deepa Joshi, wife of the victim and a resident of Kamol (Saira), presently residing in Surat, Gujarat, Joshi received a phone call from his sister Pushpa Bai, who claimed to be unwell and asked him to visit the hospital. On his way back, a black car intercepted his vehicle, and three men forcibly pulled him into their car and fled the scene.
Taking the matter seriously, Udaipur police, under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal Swaroop Mewara and Circle Officer Suryaveer Singh Rathore, launched an extensive search operation. Raids were conducted across Jodhpur, Pali, and Sirohi districts.
Through CCTV surveillance and digital tracking, the police identified the vehicle and intercepted it near Devda Toll Plaza in Siyana, Balotra district. The businessman was rescued safely and four accused were arrested on the spot, while the fifth accused was nabbed from Kothar near Jawai Bandh in Pali district.

🚨 Police Action and Recovery
The accused were allegedly in contact with the victim’s wife, repeatedly demanding ₹20 lakh. According to officials, they had already received ₹1.5 lakh and were negotiating for the remaining amount when the police intervened. A black vehicle used in the kidnapping has also been recovered.
Police officials confirmed that several of the accused have prior criminal records. They are currently being interrogated, and further investigation is underway to determine if more individuals were involved.

Due to rapid coordination among teams and real-time surveillance, we successfully rescued the victim and apprehended all accused within 18 hours,” he stated.
