
Udaipur : On Monday, acting on the instructions from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) headquarters, the Udaipur unit of ACB conducted an operation and caught Executive Engineer Ganpat Sharma and Additional Administrative Officer Gajendra Singh Rajput of the Water Resources Department, Udaipur, accepting a bribe of 40,000 rupees from a complainant.
ACB Director General Dr. Ravi Prakash Mehrra reported that the Udaipur unit received a complaint alleging that the two officials were demanding a bribe of 90,000 rupees in return for issuing a work order related to a tender awarded to the complainant’s firm. Under the supervision of ACB Udaipur’s Deputy Inspector General Rajendra Prasad Goyal and Inspector Dr. Sonu Shekhawat, the complaint was verified.
Based on the verification, the team carried out a trap operation on Monday and apprehended the accused, Ganpat Sharma and Gajendra Singh Rajput, red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of 40,000 rupees (20,000 rupees in genuine currency and 20,000 rupees in dummy currency). Notably, during the verification process, the accused had already received 10,000 rupees as a bribe from the complainant.
Further interrogation and actions against the accused are underway under the direction of Additional Director General Smita Srivastava of ACB Jaipur. ACB has registered the case and is conducting further investigations.
