Cairo : At least 170 people have been killed in an ethnic conflict over a land dispute in Sudan’s southern Blue Nile state. The fight between the two tribal communities lasted for two days.
In the Blue Nile state, there has been a bloodbath in the Blue Nile state last week over a land dispute between Hausa people and members of rival groups, according to local media reports.
The fighting took place around the Wad al-Mahi area near Roziers, some 500 kilometers south of the capital Khartoum.
A total of 170 people, including women, children and the elderly, died in the fighting on Wednesday and Thursday. Sudan has been mired in political unrest and economic crisis since last year’s military coup.
