Spanish media reported Iniesta will sign for Chinese club Chongqing Dangdai Lifan next season but he didn’t confirm it at the news conference.
France Football sent an apology to Iniesta for never awarding him the Ballon d’Or but Iniesta said on Friday that his career wouldn’t be defined by never receiving that accolade.
Iniesta was one of the favourites to win the award in 2010 after winning the World Cup with Spain and scoring the only goal in the final, but he finished runner-up to Messi. He came third in 2012, with Messi winning the award again, despite being named player of the tournament as Spain won Euro 2012.
Iniesta has spent all of his senior career at Barcelona and is their most decorated player ever along with Lionel Messi, having lifted 31 trophies, which is soon to be 32 if Barca clinch the Spanish league on Sunday (April 29) at Deportivo La Coruna.
