Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is scheduled to launch on June 21st, but a review of the expanded edition is already available. As expected, the DLC received similarly rave reviews as the base game.
In fact, Shadow of the Earthtree is the highest rated DLC ever released according to Metacritic reviews. The PS5 version of Elden Ring currently has a score of 95 on the review aggregator website, making it one of the highest rated games of all time.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has a Metacritic score of 95 at the time of writing based on 56 reviews, making it the highest rated expansion pack to date.
As VGC found, this result places the expansion at number 36 on Metacritic’s overall list of highest-scoring games of all time. The DLC is just one point away from the base game. Elden Ring has a Metacritic score of 96 based on 93 reviews.
When it comes to expansions, Shadow of the Earthtree is at the top of the list. Before the Elden Ring expansion, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine had the highest DLC score on Metacritic at 92. The film focuses on the story of Mayla, Marnia’s younger brother, and is set in the Kingdom of Shadows, a new area of the Elden Ring world. The expansion also introduces a new and threatening antagonist: Mesmer the Impaler. Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on June 21st for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
