Dubai: Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was not arrested in Dubai, his lawyer Ashish Mehta told Khaleej Times.
A Pakistani news channel reported that the singer was arrested in a defamation case.
“This news is completely false,” said his lawyer, founder and managing partner of Ashish Mehta and Associates. “My client is in Dubai to record some songs.”
The singer, one of Pakistan’s highest paid singers, posted a video on Instagram denying his arrest.
“I am in Dubai to record my songs. Everything is alright. I ask everyone not to listen to baseless rumours. I will soon return to my beloved country together with all of you. Super hits will entertain you,” said the world-famous Pakistani singer in a video with the Dubai skyline in the background.
“I request all my fans around the world not to waste time and listen to fake news and rumours. Spectators and fans are my strength. I love them all,” added the singer.
Earlier, several Pakistani and Indian channels reported that Khan was arrested after his arrival in Dubai.
