Day light robbery being done by airlines: Omar

Srinagar, Feb 23 : Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday alleged that ”day light robbery” was carried out by airlines after all flights were cancelled to and from the Srinagar International Airport due to the bad weather. Omar took to social media and said there was no government intervention on this. “This is how passengers to Srinagar are getting shafted by airlines – all flights got cancelled today & people who had paid Rs 3000/4000 for their seats are told to rebook. Suddenly the same flights are being quoted at Rs 12,000/Rs 14,000. Day light robbery & no government intervenes,” he tweeted. Responding to the allegations, the Srinagar Airport authorities said the options for refund and rescheduling at no extra cost for all the flights cancelled today has been offered by all airlines. “The affected passengers may please contact the respective airlines call centre for refund or rescheduling,” a tweet by the Srinagar Airport said. All flights of all airlines were cancelled to and from the Srinagar Airport on Wednesday. “The passengers will be adjusted in the forthcoming flights in next available flight. There were total 41 cancellations including all flights,” the Srinagar Airport tweeted earlier in the day. MJR GK
