Centre Clears Land Acquisition for Udaipur’s Umarda–Debari Railway Doubling Project
Udaipur: The railway infrastructure in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district is set to receive a major boost, with the Ministry of Railways issuing the final land acquisition declaration for the 24.78-kilometre railway doubling project between Umarda and Debari.
The notification was issued on October 5, confirming the land acquisition for the project. The additional railway track is expected to facilitate smoother train movement through the city and help improve operational efficiency.

Six Objections Rejected
Before the final declaration, the government had issued a preliminary land acquisition notification on June 1 under the Railways Act. A total of six objections were received in response to the initial notification.
After considering the objections, the competent authority rejected them and submitted its report to the Central Government, paving the way for the final land acquisition declaration.
Key Details of the Railway Doubling Project
The project covers a 24.78-kilometre stretch between Umarda and Debari. Once the doubling work is completed, two trains will be able to operate on separate tracks simultaneously, reducing interruptions to train movement.
The project is expected to improve the smooth movement of trains and make rail travel more convenient for passengers. It will also support more efficient train operations on this section.
Project to Strengthen Rail Connectivity
The railway doubling project is an important step towards strengthening rail infrastructure in Udaipur district. The additional track is expected to help trains pass through the section with fewer operational constraints.
