New Delhi, August 10 (Udaipur Kiran): The Union Cabinet on Friday approved eight new railway line projects. These projects, spanning seven states, will enhance connectivity, facilitate travel, reduce freight costs, and decrease oil imports and carbon emissions. The total estimated cost of the projects is Rs 24,657 crore, and they are expected to be completed by 2030-31.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave its approval today. Providing information about the Cabinet decisions, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that direct employment will be generated for about three crore man-days during the construction.
These projects are as follows:
- Gunupur-Therubali (new line): 73.62 km, Rayagada, Odisha
- Junagarh-Nabrangpur: 116.21 km, Kalahandi and Nabrangpur, Odisha
- Badampahar Kandujhargarh: 82.06 km, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj, Odisha
- Bangriposi Gorumahisani: 85.60 km, Mayurbhanj, Odisha
- Malkangiri Pandurangapuram (via Bhadrachalam): 173.61 km, Malkangiri, East Godavari and Bhadradri Kothagudem (Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana)
- Buramara Chakulia: 59.96 km, East Singhbhum, Jhargram and Mayurbhanj (Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha)
- Jalna – Jalgaon: 174 km, Aurangabad, Maharashtra
- Vikramshila Katareh: 26.23 km, Bhagalpur, Bihar
