Bomb Blast Damages Railway Track in Kokrajhar, Train Services Restored

Kokrajhar (Assam), October 23 (Udaipur Kiran): A bomb explosion on a railway track near Kokrajhar town in Assam caused significant damage to the track late on Tuesday night. The blast occurred within the Alipurduar Division of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).

According to NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapiljal Kishore Sharma, the incident took place around 1:00 a.m. when a freight train was passing between Azra Sugar, Salakati, and Kokrajhar. The train manager reported a strong jolt, prompting the train to be stopped immediately. Upon inspection, officials discovered damage to the track and sleepers caused by a suspected bomb explosion.

Teams from the state police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and intelligence agencies have begun investigating the incident.

The CPRO stated that repair work was completed by 5:25 a.m., and train services were restored to normal. However, around eight trains were halted temporarily due to the incident. Security patrolling in the affected section has been intensified. The identity of those responsible for the blast remains unknown.
