In a groundbreaking move, Blinkit, the popular quick-commerce platform owned by Zomato, has introduced ‘ambulance in 10 minutes’ service, aiming to provide rapid medical assistance during emergencies. The service, which has started as a pilot project in Gurugram, promises to revolutionize emergency healthcare by drastically reducing ambulance response times. Blinkit plans to expand the service to other major cities across India over the next two years.

Blinkit Ambulance Service: How It Works
At the initial launch, five ambulances will operate on the streets of Gurugram. The company has equipped these ambulances with Basic Life Support (BLS) systems to cater to critical medical emergencies. Once the service is available in your area, you will be able to book an ambulance directly through the Blinkit app.
According to Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, each ambulance will have a trained paramedic, an assistant, and a professional driver to ensure safe and efficient transport of patients.
Essential Medical Equipment on Board
The Blinkit ambulances will be stocked with essential life-saving equipment to handle critical situations effectively. The key medical equipment includes:
- Oxygen cylinders
- AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
- Stretcher
- Patient monitor
- Suction machine
Additionally, the ambulances will carry emergency medicines and injections required for immediate care.
Affordable Pricing and Long-Term Vision
While Blinkit has not officially revealed detailed pricing information, a shared image by the company executive indicates a flat rate of ₹2,000 for the service. CEO Albinder Dhindsa emphasized that Blinkit is committed to providing affordable emergency medical services and is prepared to invest in the initiative for the long term.
Dhindsa posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities. The first five ambulances will be on the road in Gurugram starting today. As we expand the service to more areas, you will start seeing more ambulances on the road.”
Blinkit’s Recent Expansions
This latest service launch follows Blinkit’s continued efforts to expand its footprint in India. The company recently introduced its grocery delivery services in Jammu, Raipur, Hisar, Lonavala, and Khandala, offering over 10,000 products with 10-minute delivery. Additionally, Blinkit launched Bistro, a dedicated app for quick food delivery from nearby restaurants.
Future Outlook
Blinkit’s initiative to provide fast and reliable ambulance services could set a new benchmark for emergency medical assistance in India. With plans to expand to other cities in the near future, this move underscores the company’s commitment to solving critical real-world problems beyond just grocery and food delivery. As Blinkit continues to innovate, it’s clear that the brand is determined to be more than just a quick-commerce platform—it aims to be a lifeline for urban communities.
